Ed combines the experience of leadership of business consultancy, advising corporates, C-Suite executives and high net worth individuals across the globe, with an expeditionary and Special Forces’ background. He is Head of Risk Analysis at Pool Re, which supports the development and resilience of the UK economy by reinsuring terrorism risk that others cannot or will not.  He is also a Senior Advisor at Salamanca Risk Management, a Private Client, Business Intelligence and Risk Consulting firm.  Before this, he held positions of increasing responsibility at Salamanca Group where his last role was Executive director of its Merchant Banking and Operational Risk Management business.  He was formerly Executive Chairman of Salamanca Risk Management and CEO and founder director of a strategic intelligence consultancy.

He has extensive experience spanning more than three decades of international relations, counter terrorism, intelligence, security and risk management ~ much of which was gained during 24 years on front line service with the British Army.  He was privileged to command 22 SAS over 9/11 and was Commander of British Forces Afghanistan in 2006, before retiring as a Brigadier General in 2008. He led men and women in combat in Northern Ireland, Iraq, Bosnia, Kosovo, Macedonia, Albania, Sierra Leone and other undisclosed geographies. He has an Honours degree in Politics and International Relations and an MA from Cranfield University in Military Technology and Defence Studies.
